Clearly the author is partial to WordPress-dot-com. But there’s nothing wrong with that. WordPress offers great tools and it is a very nice service provider. Chapter 4 talks about WordPress. Appendix A describes the process for setting up WordPress. And Appendix D is kind of a supplemental blurb to Appendix A. I found the Introduction to be great. Chapter 1 on strategy was great, and chapters 12 through 15 were wonderful, too. Chapters 2-11 did a good job of providing tools and tactics to be used in building your online presence.
Building a meaningful and productive online presence is all about (1) interactivity, (2) sharing, & (3) collaboration. This book will tell you what you need to know to get involved online, build your presence, and interact, share and collaborate. 5 stars!

A must-buy for all bloggers and entrepreneurs,
I received this book for free as a gift from the author. I initially believed I knew pretty much everything I needed to know but after peering through the first few chapters I couldn’t have been more wrong. The author does a fantastic job of presenting and relating the material to the reader. It doesn’t slap you in the face with a bunch of garbled text but rather, it comes at you in a way that is both welcoming and comfortable. The material is presented both professionally and thoughtfully (as it should be for beginners). The best part about this book is that it doesn’t try and overwhelm you right at the gates with information but lead you by the hand step by step.
Opening up the first few chapters presents the concept of social media marketing and how WordPress can help you achieve your goals. From there, it is a step-by-step guide in not only how to utilize WordPress to its fullest potential but also get an edge on your competition. Even for those not well versed in computers can rest easy since this guide is packed with quick reference tips, detailed photographs, and even a the publishers’ direct email address to answer any questions you may have. I love the fact that every time new material is presented and you go through the steps to do it, the author then explains the completed process once more in the “what just happened” section to reiterate the material and further explain the process while tying up any loose ends. The number one goal of this book is to present a complete resource to using WordPress while making sure that knowledge sticks and it certainly does a phenomenal job.
After reading this book once over I can safely say that my favorite and most referenced chapter is number 6: Managing Your Site. This is by far the most dedicated and complex of all of the steps involved in the process and the only one that is never truly complete. I especially loved the list of free plugins available to enhance your website. Some books try to sell you more on top of what you’ve already purchased but this guide isn’t trying to sell anything more than you’ve already purchased which I found very welcoming. I particularly enjoyed the 7th chapter because the book presents detailed tips and tactics to engage site visitors, personalize, and promote your site. Sometimes we believe we have all of the tools and when it comes down to it, the little things we overlook can make the difference between ordinary and extraordinary.
I can honestly say that this book is the ultimate resource for establishing, building, and maintaining a social media presence through WordPress. Owning this book is like having the complete how-to guide right at my fingertips. My blog has definitely jumped to the next level and I’ve already started to gain new followers. I don’t know where I would be without this handy guide but I do know one thing’s for certain, I wouldn’t want to find out.
