This robust video course on Adobe’s Dreamweaver CS6 by David Powers is wonderful.

If you are new to Dreamweaver, this is a must have.
If you are upgrading to CS6 and learning the new HTML5 and CSS3 coding, this is a must have as well.

I’ve been using Dreamweaver since it came out, and my recent upgrade to CS6 prompted me to see what courses were available for a moderate price.

I am halfway through the video lessons and have learned a great deal about how Dreamweaver can really be used in conjunction with a little knowledge of HTML 5 and CSS3 to create fully functioning, responsive websites. The course has a wonderful interface that allows you to ‘work and learn’ by shrinking the video window to a size that is still mostly viewable, next to your Dreamweaver window.

The videos are high quality, and the clarity of the audio is superb as Mr. Powers leads you through the development of a very nice small website, explaining basic concepts of web design using HTML 5 and CSS3, and using Dreamweaver’s myriad tools and file organization abilities to produce lean code and sites with modern web abilities including webfonts and HTML 5 video.

Mr. Powers uses a Windows based machine in the course, but he points out the subtle differences that MAC users, like myself, will encounter as well.

My only criticism would be that the file structure of the included lessons files does not match exactly the naming conventions Mr. Powers uses in the videos. SImply drilling down through the Project_Files folder you can find all of the files and assets used in the creation of the training website without much problem however, copy them to your hard drive and create the sites that Mr. Powers uses in the course.

The course is Adobe Certified Associate approved, and the company video2brain has a few other courses available such as Adobe Photoshop CS6, Premier Pro CS6, and Illustrator CS6, all of which I am considering purchasing to round out my Adobe Master Suite training.

Learning by video is so much easier and less intimidating than picking up a book with hundreds of pages of just text to read. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn Dreamweaver CS6

David Powers is careful and complete in his instruction. He clearly has a sense of humor but does not use distracting corny cracks in this teaching. He speaks good English and is very precise in his directions and use of computer, Dreamweaver, html and css language.
Before I started the course, html and css felt overwhelming, like looking at integral calculus in Chinese code, for me. By the end of this video training I was able to make my own unique web site, not from a template, with images, links and chosen font family text, all styled with css. I am also able to make my own pages for eBay listings using html with my own images and image server as I am now more familiar with the html code, tags and css styling. The W3C web site is helpful in learning about html code.
Each lesson is fairly intense. I listened to some chapters each day, sometimes repeated, for about three weeks to complete the course.
